APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
International applicants to graduate programs must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a university recognised by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in Türkiye, depending on the level of the program they are applying to. Turkish citizens who completed their undergraduate studies abroad are also considered international applicants. However, citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) are not classified as international applicants, except those who have completed their entire education in TRNC institutions and hold a GCE AL certificate.
Note: Applicants who have completed their undergraduate studies abroad may be required to submit a diploma equivalency certificate issued by YÖK at the time of application, depending on the program. Submission of this certificate is mandatory at the time of enrolment.
Applicants must meet the minimum GPA requirements established by the university for graduate admissions. For Master’s programs, a minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 (or its equivalent in a 100-point system) is required. For PhD programs, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or its 100-point equivalent) in their Master’s studies.
International applicants who have completed their undergraduate education abroad must demonstrate at least a B2 level of Turkish language proficiency. Depending on the program, a C1 level of Turkish proficiency may also be required.
Applicants must provide proof of English language proficiency for the graduate program they are applying to. A minimum score of 80 is required from one of the national English proficiency exams administered by ÖSYM (YDS, YÖKDİL, or e-YDS), or an equivalent score from an internationally recognised exam accepted by the Interuniversity Board. IELTS is not accepted.
Applicants who do not meet the language requirement may be placed in a preparatory language program. To qualify for this preparatory program, candidates must have a minimum score of 65 (or its equivalent) from YDS, e-YDS, YÖKDİL, or a comparable exam.
